Thanks for the patch, Shao. :)
I have applied it:
http://git.etherboot.org/?p=people/mdc/rom-o-matic.git;a=commitdiff;h=e7e56f1d4deee8da58335e95bb516181ea7a4e91
and it is now live on http://rom-o-matic.net/ in the top-of-tree git build.
I think one of the problems with the closed-source culture that is so
common in the world is that people don't imagine that they can
understand how things work.
When I programmed in a closed-source environment I constantly ran into
walls where I could have easily figured things out if I could have seen
source code. Instead I had to ask about every little thing. I can see
how this could become a habit. Suddenly you have the source code, but
you're not used to that, so you don't even try to read it.
One of the main things that attracts me to FOSS is that I can learn as
much as I care to, and for the most part there are people who are
willing to help me find my way.
Sometimes it's important for those of us (like me) who have spent
decades in FOSS to remember that many of those who are finding us today
are new, and are from a world where there is no easy way to find
information. Most people are amazed how much they can do once they have
direct access to the information they need.
Thanks again for your help, and for helping me remember what it was like
30+ years ago when I was programming one of these:
