Hi Shao,
Thank you for replying. Here is the information you requested:
Make command: make bin/gpxe.lkrn for syslinux, make bin/gpxe.iso for
CD
Building on Ubuntu 9.10 gpxe version 1.0.0
Issue is happening on two models of Dell Optiplexs- 755 and 960. The
output of 'show net0/busid' is 01:80:86:10:BD
Both NICs are Intel 825XX Gigabit
I actually tried booting from an additional model (an older Dell with a
Broadcom NIC) and it worked. So the problem seems to be isolated to the
Intel 825xx chipset. The iso version of gpxe can somehow handle this
but the syslinux build can't. Wouldn't they each be built with the
exact same driver set?
Ben

Good day Ben,
In regards to your gPXE .lkrn build target being loaded by Syslinux and
not reporting any network interfaces: What does your 'make' command look
like when you build the "gpxe.lkrn" file? What version of gPXE are you
building? What are the PCI VENdor and DEVice IDs for the NIC? You
should be able to find this out from your working gPXE .iso by doing
'show net0/busid' from the gPXE control-B CLI, or using 'lspci' under
Linux.
